A Healthy Start for Your New Pet
Welcoming a new puppy or kitten into your home is an exciting time! Your adorable new family member is bound to bring a smile to everyone's face.
Becoming a new pet parent can be such a joyous time, but it comes with a lot of new responsibilities. You are going to need to provide your puppy or kitten with the essential healthcare they need in order to achieve good long-term health.
Our Calgary veterinarians provide guidance and comprehensive veterinary care for puppies or kittens during their critical first year of life.
Your Pet’s First Appointment
Our veterinarians recommend that puppies have their first veterinary visit around six weeks of age, and kittens have their first visit around eight weeks of age.
Examination & Diagnostics
During your pet's first vet visit, they will receive a complete physical examination to assess their overall health, look for signs of any congenital issues, and check for parasites.
Kittens will also be given a blood test to see if they have feline leukemia or the feline immunodeficiency virus.
Parasite Prevention & Vaccinations
Deworming medications and the first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations will also be provided during this visit.
Follow-Up Appointments
Puppies and kittens between the ages of six and 16 weeks will require three to four veterinary appointments. These visits enable our veterinarians to monitor your pet's health and administer vaccines on time.
